When you’re loading up heavy gear for a weekend trip or a day on the water, you need a rack that feels solid and dependable. The Rhino-Rack Vortex crossbars are built from aluminum, giving them strength without adding unnecessary weight. With a 165-lb capacity (always follow your vehicle’s roof load limit), these bars handle kayaks, canoes, or a full cargo box without flexing under pressure.
Long drives can be tiring enough without the hum of wind noise from your roof rack. The Vortex bars are aero-style and use rubberized strips in the top channels to cut down drag and whistling. The design helps air move smoothly over the bars so you can focus on the road instead of the sound overhead.
No matter what kind of trip you’re planning, these crossbars make it easy to bring your gear. The channels on top let you slide in channel-mount attachments, while the bar shape also fits clamp-on carriers. That means you can mount bikes, watersport racks, snow gear holders, or cargo boxes using your existing accessories from most major brands.
Leaving your setup unattended doesn’t have to be stressful. The integrated plastic locks help deter theft of channel-mount accessories, while lockable cover plates secure the legs to your vehicle. For added protection, you can upgrade to all-metal locks (RRVA-LEC4, sold separately) so everything stays where you left it—whether it’s overnight at a campsite or parked at a trailhead.
This is an all-in-one system designed for vehicles without factory rails. It includes two 49" crossbars, four 2500 Series legs, and a custom fit kit for secure mounting on your naked roof. Everything works together so installation feels straightforward and the rack sits level and stable once it’s on.

Still happy. Theres a whistle, but you can fix it with a bit of foam insulation in the bottom of the rail.

Still rock solid after a year. Very happy with the Rack. My daughter has used it from time to time over the past year when something wont fit in her car, and shes had no problems with it at all.
